Megamouths in Taiwan
We work in collaboration with fishers and local researchers in Taiwan on an ongoing project to tag and study megamouth sharks. In 2018, DBRF data-tagged three megamouth sharks—for the first time ever. We anticipate our next research expedition in 2027 to continue this work.
Southern Indian Ocean
The Southern Indian Ocean is considered by some to be the final frontier of marine exploration. Many of the animals in these waters are still unknown to science and much of the area is still unexplored. DBRF collaborates with commercial fishers in the region to study the marine life. Our work has led to the discovery of over a dozen new species.
